GoTruckin driver app
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what the GoTruckin driver app collects from you, why, who else can see it, and how to get it deleted. It covers the mobile app only. Last updated 14 September 2026.
Who we are
GoTruckin is operated by Go Freight Inc., 5687 Great Hall Ct, Columbus, OH 43231-7104, United States. We provide the app to transport companies (“carriers”), who issue accounts to their drivers. You cannot sign up on your own — your carrier creates your account.
That relationship matters for your data. Your carrier decides what work you are assigned and can see the information described below. We handle that data on your carrier’s behalf, and we also handle some of it for our own purposes, such as keeping the service secure and working.
What the app collects
The app collects only what the listed features need. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK in the app.
Account information
Your carrier’s MC number, your username and your password when you sign in; and from your profile, your name, driver number, driver status and the carrier you belong to. You may optionally add a profile photograph and a nickname.
Location
The app records your precise location only while you have a load marked In Transit, and only while the app is open on screen. It does not track you in the background, it does not track you when the app is closed or your phone is locked, and it does not track you between jobs. There is no background-location permission in the app at all.
While those conditions hold, the app sends a position roughly every 20 seconds, or after you have moved about 50 metres — whichever comes later, so a stationary truck stops sending. Each position includes latitude and longitude, the accuracy of the fix, your speed and heading, the load number it relates to, and the time it was recorded.
If you decline the location permission, the rest of the app keeps working. We do not ask again on every screen, and nothing else is withheld from you.
Photographs and documents
Photographs you take or choose for proof of delivery, documents you attach to a load, files you send to dispatch, and your profile photograph. The app asks for camera access or photo-library access at the moment you choose one of those actions, not before. It uploads only the specific file you pick — it does not read or scan your photo library.
Messages
Messages you exchange with your dispatcher, including any attachments, and whether a message has been read. These are not end-to-end encrypted: your carrier can read them.
Device and technical information
A push notification token identifying your device installation, the platform it runs on (iOS or Android), and the app version. These let us deliver notifications and tell you when an update is required.
Why we use it
- To run the service — show you your assigned loads, your documents and your pay statements, and let you complete a delivery.
- To show progress to dispatch — so your carrier can see where a load is and give customers an arrival time without phoning you.
- To prove delivery — a photograph attached to a load is the record that the freight arrived.
- To communicate — carry messages between you and your dispatcher, and send notifications about load changes and company announcements.
- To keep accounts secure — authenticate you, keep you signed in, and detect misuse.
We do not sell personal data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
How long we keep it
Location. We store only your most recent reported position — one record per driver. Each new position replaces the previous one, so there is no history of your movements and no route we can replay.
Delivery documents and photographs. Kept for as long as your carrier needs them as a record of the job, and to meet freight, tax and safety obligations.
Messages. Kept for as long as your account is active with the carrier.
After deletion. Removed within 30 days of a confirmed request, except records a carrier must retain by law.
How it is protected
Your sign-in tokens are stored in your phone’s secure hardware-backed store — the Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android — not in ordinary app storage. All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Signing out clears your tokens and your cached profile from the device.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or restrict how we use it. You can also object to a particular use. Some of these rights depend on where you live, and some data has to be kept for compliance reasons even after you ask.
Because your carrier issued your account, we will usually need to involve them in the request — they decide what happens to the records of work you did for them. We will tell you when that is the case.
To exercise any of this, email help@gotruckin.com.
Deleting your account and data
You can request deletion of your GoTruckin account and the personal data associated with it by emailing help@gotruckin.com from the address on your account, or by asking your carrier to raise it for you. Our account deletion page lists exactly what to include and what happens next.
When we action a deletion we remove your profile, your profile photograph, your device push tokens, your messages and your stored position. Delivery documents and load records that your carrier is required to retain for freight, tax or safety compliance are kept and disassociated from your profile where we can.
We confirm by email when the deletion is complete.
Children
GoTruckin is a workplace tool for licensed commercial drivers. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
